THE WHAT? After just over a year of trading, Sephora has backed out of the Taiwanese market, according to a report published by Inside Retail Asia. The LVMH-owned retail shut down its online store and mobile app yesterday.
THE DETAILS The move follows a similar decision to exit Vietnam, Inside Retail Asia reports. Sephora said that orders placed before the closure will be processed as normal.
THE WHY? The reason for Sephora’s departure was not disclosed, presumably the LVMH-owned retailer has not been as successful as it hoped in both Taiwan and Vietnam. Although, as its recent return to the UK shows, it’s possible this is not goodbye, but au’revoir.
