THE WHAT? TikTok is said to be partnering with a series of logistics firms in the UK and US, according to a report published by WWD. The Chinese social media giant is working with third-party fulfilment centers to offer merchants that sell on its platform the chance to store inventory and ship orders from a dedicated warehouse.
THE DETAILS The initiative is currently an invite-only pilot and the identity of its warehousing partners has not been disclosed.
THE WHY? The trial will inform TikTok’s ambition to create an ‘international e-commerce fulfilment system’, a spokesperson for the social media site told WWD, part and parcel of its mission to corner the social commerce market via its TikTok Shop widget.
