THE WHAT? Shopify has unveiled a new application that merchants can use to seek out content creators to hire, according to a report published by WWD. Collabs Network, as the new tool has been dubbed, will connect brands and influencers.
THE DETAILS Brands will be able to view sales statistics for a given creator and have full control over who promotes their products, they then pay commission directly to the influencer, with no ‘middle man’. To participate, creators must have a minimum of 1,000 followers and be based in the region where the merchant wishes to sell products.
THE WHY? Mike Schmidt, Head of Product for Shopify Collabs, told WWD, “We’ve built up a huge supply – hundreds and thousands of creators that are willing to work with merchants, and merchants that are willing to work with creators. So naturally, we’re at this stage where we’ve got both supply and demand on both sides. And now we’re opening up this network so any creator can jump in and work with our Shopify merchants.”
